Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and works gradually by triggering your body’s natural collagen production over time. Results develop slowly over several weeks to months, creating subtle, natural-looking improvements that can last up to 2 years or more.

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that provide immediate volumizing effects while simultaneously stimulating long-term collagen production. You’ll see instant structural support with continued improvement over the following months, and results lasting 12 to 18 months.

Traditional dermal fillers like hyaluronic acid-based Juvéderm and Restylane add volume immediately upon injection, with results that typically last 9 to 12 months and can be dissolved if needed.

Please note: individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not suitable candidates for this treatment.

To minimize the risk of bruising or swelling:

• Avoid treatment within 2 weeks of recent dental work or vaccinations
• Avoid blood-thinning supplements (vitamin E, fish oil, omega-3s, herbal remedies) for 5 days before treatment, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor
• Avoid alcohol 24 hours before treatment
• Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs (Advil, Aleve, Motrin, ibuprofen) for 24 hours before treatment

When taken two or more days before treatment, Arnica and Bromelain can reduce bruising. Always consult your primary physician before taking any new supplements.

Redness, swelling, and occasional bruising are common side effects but usually resolve within a few days. A light amount of makeup can be applied the same day.

Special instruction for Sculptra: massage treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after treatment. This is crucial for even distribution and optimal results.

• Avoid strenuous exercise until the following day
• Avoid alcoholic beverages until the following day
• Avoid flying for 48 hours
• Avoid saunas and high heat exposure for 1 week
• Avoid facial massage, facials, gua sha, or jade rollers for 1 week (with the exception of Sculptra, per the massage instructions above)
• Avoid dental work or vaccines for 2 weeks

Mild discomfort can be treated with Tylenol.

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulatory fillers cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. This is why proper candidacy assessment, precise placement, and working with experienced providers is essential. When performed by licensed, medically trained providers, biostimulatory fillers are FDA-approved and very well tolerated.

As with any injectable treatment, temporary side effects such as redness, swelling, or bruising may occur. Rare side effects can include nodule formation, which is why proper injection technique and following aftercare instructions is crucial.
