You should consider your skin’s condition before the peel when determining how long the downtime will be. Many peels result in peeling and redness for a few days, but others have little to no downtime.
Peels with lighter grits may produce results immediately, while stronger peels may take three to seven days to show full results. Clinical strength peels remove cells that are dead or damaged. Skincare routines, particularly sunscreen, play a key role in determining how long the effects last post-treatment.
You may feel mild tingling, itchiness, or warming during the treatment.

The face and chest can be treated with clinical strength peels. Necks may be treated with lighter peels.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding cannot be treated. Retinol and skincare products containing active ingredients must be avoided five to seven days before your clinical strength peel. If you have a problem with getting cold sores, your practitioner may prescribe antiviral medication to prevent future outbreaks.
Up to two weeks of downtime can be expected, depending on the depth of the peel. Do not apply water to treated skin for at least four hours after treatment. It is optional to experience flakes and peels within the next two weeks for optimal results. After a peel, avoid rubbing, scratching, or pulling the treated areas.Heat and sun may cause sensitivity for a few days afterward. Wear protective clothing and sunscreen to avoid sun exposure. Avoid products containing retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs until your skin has completely healed. Abrasive cleaners or scrubs should not be used. On the following day, you can go back to wearing light makeup. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for 24 hours after taking this medication. You should avoid intense heat for 72 hours, such as saunas.
