Teeth Clenching Reduction

The Experience: Stress no more. Teeth clenching and grinding caused by stress can lead to discomfort, headaches, and even damage to your teeth. We use neuromodulators to relax the main muscle responsible for teeth clenching and grinding, thereby reducing discomfort. As a bonus, shrinking of this muscle often leads to facial slimming as well!

Frequently Asked Questions

Teeth clenching, also known as bruxism, happens when a person habitually grinds or clenches their teeth, often during sleep. Over time, this can cause significant damage to the teeth, jaw, and surrounding muscles. Neuromodulator treatments, such as Botox, can help reduce the frequency and intensity of teeth clenching by relaxing the muscles involved in the clenching action.

Treatment for teeth clenching at CONTŌR typically involves a series of small injections into the jaw to relax specific muscles. The procedure does not require any downtime, so you will be able to return to work or other regular activities immediately after your treatment.

You may notice a reduction in teeth clenching within seven days of your treatment, although the full effects may take 2 weeks to develop. The results of neuromodulator treatments for teeth clenching typically last for several months and may require periodic maintenance treatments to maintain the desired level of muscle relaxation.

Guests at CONTŌR report zero to minimal pain with this treatment. Some people may experience minor discomfort or bruising at the injection sites, but this is usually mild and resolves quickly.

Please note: Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not suitable candidates for this treatment.  We always recommend visiting a dentist prior to undergoing treatment for teeth clenching. A dentist may be able to diagnose other causes for teeth clenching and provide other non-invasive treatment.

After your neuromodulator treatment for teeth clenching, it is important to avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas, as this can cause the medication to spread to unintended areas. We always recommend regular follow up with your dentist.
